Job Responsibilities

Golder Associates Ltd. is seeking candidates for the role of Geotechnical Technician (Intermediate).  This exciting opportunity will allow you to develop your technical skills in the field with like-minded professionals in an employee-owned international firm. Opportunities are available in the London office.

 

Successful candidates will be responsible for the following:

  • Provide technical services in a field, laboratory and office environment;
  • Supervise and/or carry out site geotechnical inspections of construction work and materials testing;
  • Conduct in situ testing of various materials on construction sites, compaction testing and testing of concrete and asphalt;
  • Perform laboratory testing on construction materials;
  • Participate in a team environment;
  • Demonstrating a “Safety-First” focus and acting as a role model to other staff;
  • Maintaining a high standard of behaviour to uphold Golder’s reputation and demonstrating a commitment to our Core Values; and,
  • Work with and provide support to other members of the field technician group in assisting with other field and office activities as required.

Job Requirements

The successful candidates will possess the following qualifications:

  • Graduated from a Civil Engineering Technology diploma program, preferably with a focus on Geotechnical Engineering and/or materials testing or equivalent experience
  • A minimum of three (3) years of experience working as a geotechnical technician is required;
  • Formal training on use of and experience with nuclear density testing equipment is required;
  • Knowledge of basic concrete testing requirements is required;
  • Knowledge of geotechnical and geo-environmental drilling and testing procedures is an asset;
  • Must own a vehicle with appropriate insurance coverage and hold a valid driver’s license;
  • Good written and verbal communication skills;
  • Strong organizational skills; and
  • Interest in development of skills in engineering and consulting business practices is an asset.
