Job Responsibilities

The Yellowknife office of Golder Associates Ltd. currently provides consulting services primarily in the fields of water resources and geotechnical engineering, site remediation, and environmental services. To meet the growing needs of our client base, Golder Associates is seeking a Hydrologist or Water Resources Engineer to join its dynamic team.

As a member of the team, you will involve in completing hydrology and water resources tasks for client projects under the guidance of senior water resources engineer and participate as a key member of the broader technical community within Golder. You will be comfortable with project delivery, client communication, and manage project sub-tasks.

The successful candidate will be involved in a broad range of technical services in the field of hydrology, including:

  • Water balance and drainage basin analysis;
  • Completing field studies including flow measurements and water quality sampling.
  • Recording, processing and analyzing data.
  • Assist with preparation of technical reports and proposals.
  • Statistical analysis of climate and hydrology data;
  • Hydrological and hydraulic modeling;
  • Water management and flood routing studies; and,
  • Baseline hydrological study design, instrumentation and field data collection.

Job Requirements

The preferred candidate will possess the following skills and attributes:

  • University degree (Bachelor's or Master's) specializing in Hydrology or Water Resources Engineering;
  • 3+ years of work experience in the field of Water Resources Engineering (climate and hydrology data analysis, hydrologic and hydraulic modelling, hydrologic monitoring channel design, water balance analysis, hydraulics, fluvial geomorphology, mine water management);
  • Familiarity with current hydrology, hydraulics and database software preferred;
  • Valid driver’s license. Job duties may include operating as a field team driver, remote areas, and occasionally off-road;
  • Willing to travel and undertake field assignments including the possibility of remote locations;
  • Good verbal communication and technical writing skills;
  • Strong work ethic;
  • Experience in the application of hydrological and hydraulic models;
  • Experience working in a consulting environment and in challenging field work conditions;
  • Ability to work effectively within a team environment;
  • Awareness or experience in other areas of environmental science and/or engineering; and,
  • Eligibility for P.Eng registration would be considered an asset.
