Job Responsibilities

Golder Associates is seeking Archaeological Field Supervisors - Seasonal Contract for our Mississauga office.


Successful candidates will be responsible for the following:

  • Supervising an archaeological Field Crew;
  • Take a leadership role in a team environment;
  • Provide effective direction with and provide support to members of the field technician group in both fieldwork and lab settings as required;
  • Carry out archaeological survey, test excavation and mitigative excavation in a Cultural Resources Management setting;
  • Conduct archaeological assessment in a variety of work environments outdoors in all weather with overnight stays on out-of-town projects (double occupancy) when required;
  • Provide training to new archaeological field staff and refreshers to existing staff;
  • Familiarize yourself with Golder’s Project Management Protocol and technical standards in order to support the project managers in the delivery of consulting services to our clients;
  • Participate with other Golder staff in client development appropriate to your level;
  • Participate in Golder’s Health & Safety program and monitor the Health & Safety performance of archaeological field employees;
  • Demonstrating a “Safety First” focus and acting as a role model to other staff;
  • Maintaining a high standard of ethical behaviour to uphold Golder’s reputation and demonstrating a commitment to our Core Values; and,
  • Performing other duties as required.

Job Requirements

Successful candidates will possess the following qualifications:

  • Possess an Archaeology, Anthropology or related Degree from a recognized program;
  • Valid Professional license to conduct archaeological fieldwork granted by the Ontario Ministry of Tourism, Culture and Sport.  Research license to be considered based on demonstrated archaeological field supervision;
  • Excellent working knowledge of the Ontario Government’s Standards and Guidelines for Consultant Archaeologists;
  • Demonstrated experience in archaeological fieldwork supervision and the ability to observe and instruct others in good field methodology at a brisk pace;
  • Knowledge of Ontario culture history;
  • Good written and verbal communications skills; and,
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Knowledge of the Occupational Health and Safety Act; Valid driver’s license
