Job Responsibilities

Golder Associates is seeking Archaeological Field Technicians - Seasonal Contract for Golder's  Whitby location.


Duties will include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Provide technical services in a field and office environment;
  • Carry out archaeological survey, test excavation, and mitigative excavation in a Professional Cultural Resources Management setting
  • Conduct archaeological assessment in a variety of work environments; outdoors in all weather conditions with occasional overnight stays during out-of-town projects (double occupancy);
  • Participate in a team environment;
  • Work with and provide support to other members of the field technician group in assisting with other field and office activities as required;
  • Demonstrate a “Safety First” focus and act as a role model to other staff;
  • Maintain a high standard of ethical behaviour to uphold Golder’s reputation and demonstrate a commitment to our Core Values; and,
  • Perform other duties as required.

Job Requirements

The successful candidate will possess the following qualifications:

  • Archaeological technicians will possess or be currently pursuing an Archaeology, Anthropology or related degree from a recognized program;
  • Previous experience in archaeological fieldwork will be an asset but not required;
  • The ability to practice good field methodology at a brisk pace;
  • Knowledge of Ontario culture history is an asset;
  • Access to transportation and valid driver's licence;
  • Good written and verbal communication skills;
  • Strong organizational and problem solving skills; ,
  • Ability to carry out strenuous physical activity and occasional heavy lifting may be required.

*Transportation to job sites will be provided from the respective Golder offices. 


*Field Technicians will be required to provide their own transportation to the office and be able to arrive for 7:30 am or earlier in some cases.
