Job Responsibilities

Golder Associates Ltd. is looking for a Junior Level Water Quality Modeller who will undertake analysis, reporting and evaluation of water quality data.  The position is for a 6 month hourly contract employee.  The selected individual will join a team of approximately 30 water quality scientists and environmental engineers working in the Calgary office.


Responsibilities Include:

  • Conducting data analysis and calculations using Microsoft Excel
  • Summarizing large datasets containing water quality and other environmental information as inputs into selected water quality models, reports and other relevant documentation
  • Analyzing water quality data to evaluate potential environmental effects of changes to aquatic systems
  • Preparing written and graphical material for incorporating into reports and presentations

Job Requirements

The preferred candidate will possess the following skills and attributes:

  • A graduate degree in the field of environmental science or environmental engineering with a thesis focused on quantitative assessment of aquatic systems, or a Bachelor degree in one of the aforementioned disciplines with equivalent consulting or industry experience 
  • Demonstrated technical skills in analysis of water chemistry information and/or surface water quality modelling
  • Strong quantitative and analytical skills
  • Strong computer skills, with a proficiency in using Microsoft Excel
  • Excellent writing and verbal communication skills

The following attributes would also be considered an asset:

  • Familiarity and experience using Microsoft Access
  • Ability to program in Visual Basic or Fortran
  • Experience and education in the field of atmospheric deposition and acidification.
