Job Responsibilities

Golder is looking for an enthusiastic and motivated Intermediate Aquatic Toxicity Specialist (toxicology/risk assessment) to join our Aquatics Group.

 

The successful candidate will be expected to learn from and work cooperatively with various members of the group including junior, intermediate and senior team members, with the opportunity to assume increasing autonomy and responsibility. 

 

Office location for the successful candidate is flexible: options include Saskatoon, Calgary,  Edmonton, Vancouver, or Yellowknife.

 

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Assisting with human health and ecological risk assessments, environmental impact assessment and environmental monitoring
  • Conducting field work and collecting samples for chemical analysis
  • Data entry and screening, summarizing datasets, statistical analysis and preparing written and graphical material for incorporating into reports and presentations
  • Implementation of quality assurance/quality control measures applicable to the task
  • Conducting literature reviews on a range of topics ranging from human health toxicology and ecotoxicology
  • Assisting with the development of site-specific water quality objectives
  • Providing report summaries and/or critical analysis of reports
  • Assisting with report and proposal preparation
  • Developing your technical skills and sharing these skills with other members of your team
  • Participating in a team environment

Job Requirements

The successful candidate will have the following qualifications: 

  • Masters Degree in Toxicology, Public Health, Resource Management or related field is desirable; or
  • Bachelors Degree with courses in toxicology, chemistry, resource management and/or relevant work experience
  • Background in aquatic toxicology, human health toxicology, risk assessment or related discipline

Other relevant skills;

  • Familiarity with environmental sampling methods
  • Knowledge of contaminated site risk assessment guidelines
  • Good attention to detail
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work in a team environment
  • Strong interpersonal, communication and innovative thinking skills are essential
